Update - Taylor's Appt.

First of all, I apologize for taking so long to update about Taylor's appt. with the gastro specialist. Life is always crazy around here...plus we switched internet providers and that didn't happen without a few glitches.

Anyway, on to the appt. We met with Dr. Bax for about an hour on the 19th. He was concerned with Taylor's issues and was very interested in all of her symptoms (even those mysterious fevers she's been having). He encouraged us to do an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, which we scheduled for June 20th. While she is under he will be taking blood work, a urine sample and he will be doing a clean out (sorry TMI - this stuff isn't the most fun to talk about). He will be looking for signs of a protein allergy, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, reflux, etc. He wants to be very thorough and look for anything and everything. We were very impressed with him and his bedside manner with Taylor was great too.

So, needless to say, we are very anxious for the results from these tests. We do pray it will all go smoothly since this will be Taylor's first experience with anesthesia. Please pray she will not be afraid and she will come out of the anesthesia with no issues.

Thank you all for your emails, phone calls and prayers. We truly appreciate your concern.

On a side note - both Taylor and Bryce have colds...what fun!

Praying for Taylor

I have mentioned in past posts that Taylor has been dealing with tummy issues for several months now. She has various issues with her bowels and deals with bloating, cramps and gas on a daily basis. We've worked with our pediatrician for some time now and cannot come up with an answer to her issues, so we are heading to Indy on Monday for an appointment with a GI specialist at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital (St. Vincent's).
Taylor has also had four periods of time in the past 6 months where she has run a low grade fever for a day or two (with no other symptoms) and then it just goes away. She has just dealt with this again over the past two days....fever...nothing else. I know kids can get fevers with no other symptoms and it could just be some virus she fights off, but four in such a short amount of time seems strange to me.

Please join us in praying for Taylor. Please pray for Dr. Bax to have wisdom and guidance in this situation. Please also pray for Taylor to feel comfortable...she is timid at times and can be scared by new situations - we know that a new hospital, new doctor and possible tests could be very challenging and scary for her (Mommy and Daddy too). We are praying for answers and relief from the discomfort she has been experiencing for so long now. Thank you for joining us as we storm the gates of heaven for Taylor. We know God is good and will be walking beside us - please pray for our peace of mind during the next few days.
"The peace of God...will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:7

As I close tonight I will share some new pics of Taylor and Bryce. We are so thankful for our two precious little ones.

Happy Mother's Day!

I wanted to wish my mom and Neal's mom a very Happy Mother's Day today. These two women are very special to our lives and to Taylor and Bryce - they love their Nanny Austin and their Nanny Fink!

Planting Garden

We spent an afternoon planting garden with Pawpaw and Nanny Fink a few days ago. Taylor might be a princess, but she also loves to be outside and play in the dirt. She helped Pawpaw plant potatoes, green onions and radishes.

Nanny spent time entertaining Bryce while we worked in the garden. Don't they look cute in their hats? My mom has been taking sun exposure seriously after her dermatologist has removed several cancerous spots from her over the past few years (including her scalp!).

Taylor was quite the hard worker, but all gardeners have to take a water (and snack) break at some point. :)

Eventually Bryce threw in the towel too - nothing like taking a nap in the country with the cool breeze blowing over you.

Nanny Austin will be planting garden soon too, so gardener Taylor will be able to put her trowel, rake and watering can to good use again. I am so thankful my kids have these opportunities to spend special time with their grandparents. As most of you know, Pawpaw Austin (Neal's Dad) went home to be with the Lord before our kids were born, but we know he is watching over them everyday and enjoying all of their adventures.

Hope you all have a great week!
