Perfect Way To Spend A Sunday...

Well my SD card for my camera went missing with these pics on it, but thankfully it was "found" a couple of days ago. I won't even tell you where I found it - let's just say my age and 2 kids has done a lot to my brain. Thanks to Kristin for loaning me her back-up card while I was searching for mine.

Anyway, we spent some nice family time together a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. First on the agenda was watching airplanes at the Purdue Airport. Taylor loves, loves, loves (did I mention she LOVES) airplanes. Watching the planes come and go (up close) was a special treat for her. What was even more of a special treat for Daddy were these WWII era planes that were visiting the airport that day. We all thought they were pretty cool...

Okay, neither of the kids are looking in this picture - but they really did enjoy the airplanes.

Taylor took the next two pictures herself. She loves using the camera and does a pretty good job at it. Definitely makes me nervous since it is the only camera we own, but hey you have to let her express her artistic side, right? :)

The next thing on our agenda was to head to the park for an evening picnic and playing.

Bryce loves to swing - and swing - and swing!

Taylor loves to slide - and slide - and slide! :)

Watching big sister play...

Taylor had a hyper-sensitive reaction to mosquito bites this summer. She is trying to get over them in this picture, but it took a visit to our ped. and a much stronger antihistamine to get them under control...doesn't this girl have enough to deal with?

"This looked like fun at the time, but I just want to go home - I'm tired."

Doesn't Bryce look like he is trying to say he is going to be ONE on Saturday!

We are currently in high gear getting ready for Bryce's 1st birthday party. He is having a barnyard/farm theme - should be fun! I'll try to post pics from the party soon, but no promises. Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the unseasonably warm temps.

First Haircut

Two posts in one day - you all should feel special! Ha ha! (see below).

Bryce had his first haircut yesterday. We had Chuck at Ideal Barber Shop give him his first cut. Chuck and my dad are good friends - they go way back to their days in the National Guard.

Outside the shop - ready for his first cut.

"Why do I have to wear this striped thing?"

"Okay, so how are we going to do this?" Pawpaw sat on a stool next to Bryce and held him - just in case he decided to break free. :)

"Pawpaw, what's this guy doing to my hair?"

"Oh, it feels kind of funny."

Taylor waiting patiently for little brother to be done with his haircut.

"Okay, now what the heck is this thing?!"

Bryce earned a sucker for being a good boy during his haircut - not that he had a clue what a sucker was...he sort of liked it (it was in the trash about 2 minutes later :).

All done - look at that handsome boy! Good job Chuck!

On a side note - Taylor isn't feeling so good. Fever and some tummy trouble. Say a little prayer for her to be better very soon - she is NOT happy about missing school today.

Baby Dedication

Finally - a little time for a new update. This past Sunday was Baby Dedication at our church. The purpose of this special day is to make a commitment to the Lord that you will raise your child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. You pledge to pray and read the Bible with your child and raise them in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.

This was a special day that we shared with Bryce's grandparents and my Aunt Linda.

Bryce with Pastor Chase.

This picture just touches my heart - I love how Taylor is being such a good girl and bowing her head while Pastor was praying.

Pastor Terry also said a few words about Aunt Linda's visit. She has been trying to visit every church that had her on their prayer list while she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She thanked our congregation for their prayers and thanked the Lord for being in remission. Praise God!

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

"We, Neal and Lori, pledge before God and this church to rear, Bryce John Austin, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

We further pledge to make prayer, Bible study and church attendance a vital part of our weekly activity. Confessing that these are the keys to carrying out my pledge this day before God and this church.

God being our helper, we pledge to live before, Bryce, a Christ-like example in our lives, language, leisure and all other activities of life.

To pray with Bryce regularly.

To earnestly and vigorously seek the salvation of Bryce by good and Godly teaching, prayer and proper exposure to Christian thought.

And to guard or home against the invasion of anything that will disturb it's spirituality and security...so help us God."

First Day of Preschool

How exciting - Taylor had her first day of preschool yesterday! I was shocked how well dropping her off went. We sometimes have problems dropping her at her class her church and we are only a room away (maybe that's the problem??). Anyway, she did great! No tears (almost on Mommy's part).

Ready to go! (This tree was planted for Taylor the week she was born. Right now we have a yellow/red/white/blue ribbon on it while my cousin's husband and one of my good friend's husband are serving in Iraq.)

We just know she is going to have a wonderful year with her teacher Miss Linda - we have heard great things about her!

Taylor was sooo excited to tell me about her first day - she enjoyed her first projects/snacks/singing and playing.

First day of school celebration cupcakes were on the menu for our dessert after supper. Taylor especially liked this surprise! Yum!

Bryce also got in on the cupcake action - he is just practicing for the 27th! :)

What a great day! We'll see how day #2 goes...

Crazy Hair Day!

This picture of Bryce just cracks me up - he is such a silly boy. He just got the wipe down after lunch one day and this is how his hair ended up...

Not a whole lot going on around the Austin household these days. I've got a lovely summer cold - always fun. :-( Neal has been working on some end of the summer projects around the house. New mailbox/post - looks so nice - it's the little things in life.

On a much more exciting note: Miss Taylor Marie Austin will be starting preschool tomorrow. She is so excited! I will fill you all in on how the first day goes...
